about
I wrote this song about a memory I had last spring. I was on the CTA with Sascha. We were on the way to the Art Institute in Chicago. I kind of miss that time. When I wrote the song in the summer, it brought me back to when the weather was breezy and cool. I guess it gave me a kind of freedom from the shitty, hot Illinois summer. When I put it out now I miss it even more because now it's too fucking cold.
I always had this affinity for public transportation. I used to commute to work in Seoul on this one bus, and I'd just blast music in my headphones. It was kind of awesome. I'd show up like 10 minutes late coz I was walking to the tempo of the song without checking the time. I'd always have my headphones in. When I'd take the train to Ttukseom Resort skate park after work. Sometimes we'd go to Cult at Dongdaemun, but most of the time it was too dark by the time we got there.
Thinking about being on the train or the subway or whatever you call it makes me cry. Things fly past in the windows and you're always making stops at stations you'll never get off at. You fall asleep because going out is exhausting. You wake up with a stranger across from you.
I think at this point I really dislike putting out music in general. I kind of want to start a new project. I already feel disconnected from music at large. I don't know—I don't really like making friends with strangers online. There aren't a lot of people I want to make music with. I've been spending the last week listening to this three hour long kevin shields interview in bits and pieces. He's pretty cool, would be nice to live in the Irish countryside. Yeah, but I'll come out with a new song in like a few weeks or in a month. Maybe Hyacinth or Poison or When I Come Home. Maybe it'll be on a different project. You'll probably know it's me anyways :]
lyrics
Sleep tight, I'll wake you when we get there
With your arms tight, and head stuck on your shoulder
You push aside my hair and the car goes black
And you find my lips in the rumble, in the dark, dark
And when we step out of the train
These days you hold my hand
And it reminds me of every single little thing
I find it hard to believe
That you're looking towards me
'Cause it surrounds me with every single fantasy
Sleep tight, I'll wake you in the morning
Before the daylight, a sliver of the sunshine
You whisper "I don't care" and your eyes close tight
And you find my lips behind your eyelids, in the dark, dark
And when we step out of the train
These days you hold my hand
And it reminds me of every single little thing
I find it hard to believe
That you're looking towards me
'Cause it surrounds me with every single fantasy
Sleep tight, I'll wake you when we get there
Sleep tight, I'll wake you in the morning
Sleep tight, I'll wake you when we get there
Sleep tight, I'll wake you in the morning
